in the days of my youth the above table was the only thing
that could be displayed on a computer terminal

all the chars 128 and above were either undefined or used
for multilingual variations (mostly European)

sometimes corner angles and half-tone (hash) chars were
accessible but often required a special code-sequence
to switch the video-terminal into a different mode

user-defined-fonts or font-switching was almost unheard of

OEM fonts were defined by the major VDU manufacturers and they
were free to define the char range 128-256 as they pleased

modern fonts today still inherit these properties

thus the only guaranteed char shapes in _all_ fonts
are the chars produced by the codes 32 thru' 127 decimal

If you've seen the first effort, then you know what to expect.  This one is
more of same.

   As before, the following art has been reproduced, posted, and passed around
many, many times.  Here's my particular collection, for you to do with as you
please.  I'm not aware of any copyright hassle.  If someone doesn't want their
art to appear here, tell me and I'll remove it immediately.

   I've included 'From:' lines to tell who emailed or posted the piece(s).
In many cases, the person who sends or posts the art is not the creator.
Unfortunately that information is sometimes lost.

   The sender's comments are in quotes.  My comments appear in brackets.
Anything else came as part of the art.  The various postings and archives have
been gathered and edited by The Scarecrow.

   Most of the editing that I did was in selecting what was to be included.
I removed unnecessary leading spaces (except in sigs, plans and bbs art) and
removed blank spaces from anything over 80 columns wide.  Actually, I try to
keep everything to within 78 columns, as I hear some systems can't handle any
more on one line. I also fixed obvious file damage.  I only did 'touch up'
work on a few pieces. Most everything appears as it was sent.

   This archive is over 350 K, and contains hundreds of pieces (I didn't have
time to count them).  It's just a sampling of what's 'out there' that caught
my eye as the parade of goodies passed by.  They come from posts, email,
private collections, pictures I made or modified, etc.

   Thanks to all of you who have emailed me with art to include.  Because
there are practical size limits for a file like this, there isn't room for
everything.  So I put in samplings from as many as possible.  Thanks again.

I would rather see a post with an ID than without.  It helps to know
if it's a request, pic, talk, etc.  But they are in your face at the
beginning of the line.

   How about if we put them at the end (except on long subject linss)?
Maybe in (), or not.  It would be there, but be out of the way.  This
makes sense if most readers don't always need to look at it.  What do you
think?

Actually, it's a lot more than "if an event is not observed, does it
really happen." What it is is:

"an event has only had happened once it has been observed"

Until you observe the cat being alive and dead the cat is (actually it
isn't but oh well) a quantum waveform. It is in both states, until you
observe it and collapse the quantum waveform into either state 1 or 2
(dead or alive). From that time on, the event has happened an
indeterminate time before it was observed to.

However, this is all rather academic (heh).. because although the
Shrodinger's cat thought experiment is an interesting thing, it doesn't
actually apply to quantum theory anymore.

It raised some nasty problems about what could be considered an
observer, and what the act of observation consisted of.

So now (I think ICBW.. actually IPAW) those crazy physicists have
decided that the possibility of interaction with a particle collapses
the waveform.
